Katahdin

Katahdin is an asymmetric local multiplayer VR game for 2 to 5 players. According to Abenaki’ legend, Mount Katahdin is protected by an old spirit named Pamola, who must prevent humans from reaching the top of the mountain.

  • The player with the VR headset is playing the mountain spirit and must use its power of the seasons to stop other players’ ascension.

  • Players with gamepads (1-4) must capture magical gems and bring them to totems located in surrounding villages.

Requirements

  • Oculus Rift + Touch (the only supported VR headset)

  • 1 to 4 Gamepads, depending on player count.

About This Game

Katahdin was an innovative VR experiment from our Totema Studio era (2014-2024), exploring asymmetric multiplayer gameplay between VR and traditional controller players. This game jam project showcased our willingness to experiment with cutting-edge technology.
