Game Overview
Experimental Friends is an innovative asymmetrical local multiplayer game that brings together VR and mobile gaming in a unique collaborative experience. Created during the WonderJam UQAC game jam in just 48 hours under the theme “Genetic”, this prototype showcases creative gameplay mechanics that blur the lines between different gaming platforms.
Gameplay
In this unconventional co-op experience:
- One player in VR takes on the role of an AI operating a laboratory robot
- Mobile players become guinea pig test subjects navigating the experimental environment
- Players must communicate and collaborate to solve puzzles together
- The sandbox design also allows for creative play modes like hide-and-seek or obstacle courses
The asymmetrical nature creates a unique dynamic where the VR player has a different perspective and capabilities than the mobile players, requiring constant communication and teamwork to succeed.
